As part of the West End expansion at Memorial Stadium, the Tiger Walk was created to serve as a grand ceremonial entryway and vibrant gathering space for Clemson fans, families, and players. Designed to celebrate the team’s history and tradition, this project used 1,042 custom precast pieces—including arched panels, stair and site wall copings, planter elements, signage plaques, and pier caps—totaling over 2,400 cubic feet of precast concrete.

The centerpiece of the project is a pair of dramatic 24-foot-wide gateway arches, prominently branded and free-spanning to create a monumental entry gesture that connects the Tiger Walk to the stadium beyond. Fabricated using Styrofoam forms and a wooden template, both arches were poured in a single day—demonstrating an efficient and innovative approach to complex geometry.

Precast elements were designed for seamless integration, maintaining visual harmony with the stadium’s material palette of brick, cast stone, and concrete. A 3-piece mounting method allowed the arches to be anchored to structural masonry veneered in brick, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.

With just a five-month window for fabrication and a hard deadline before football season kickoff, the project’s greatest challenge was timing. Despite this, Lucas Concrete completed the full precast scope on schedule, delivering a visually impactful, technically demanding, and award-winning solution that elevates the game-day experience at Clemson.
